Partners Celebrate Opening of Shared Facility
Beaumont – Dignitaries, public and separate school division students, staff and stakeholders gathered in Beaumont this morning for the official Grand Opening of the shared facility on Rue Eaglemont that includes STAR Catholic School Division’s Académie Saint-André Academy (more than 4,100 square metres), Black Gold Regional Schools’ Dansereau Meadows School (more than 6,300 square metres), and Town of Beaumont offices (more than 296 square metres).
“After four years in a temporary location in Beaumont, this is an exciting time for the students, families and staff at Académie Saint-André Academy,” says STAR Catholic School Division Board Chair John Tomkinson. “We’re grateful to Leduc-Beaumont MLA Rogers and many others for their hard work and advocacy efforts that led to this beautiful new facility that will serve the students and residents of Beaumont for years to come.”
“A school opening is a very special event for a community,” says Black Gold Regional School Division Board Chair Johnette Lemke. “It symbolizes new beginnings, hope, optimism and a belief in the future. École Dansereau Meadows School promises to be a focal point in the community of Beaumont.”
“We are excited to be a part of this partnership. Housing Family and Community Support Services in the shared facility provides a community space were residents, parents and children feel comfortable dropping-in,” says Beaumont Mayor Camille Bérubé. “Congratulations to both school boards on your new schools. This is an excellent addition to our growing community. I wish to offer great success to all who enter this wonderful facility.”
The sod turning for the new facility was held on November 2, 2012 and following an aggressive construction period, ABC Schools, Clark Builders and Alberta Infrastructure turned the keys over to STAR Catholic, Black Gold and Town of Beaumont staff on June 20, 2014.
