  • BGRD attendance boundaries unchanged for 2019-2020 school year

Posted on    Posted in BGSD, Boundary and Grade Configuration Reviews, General

Following changes to the boundaries of two municipalities within Black Gold Regional Division No. 18 (BGRD), the Division wants to assure families its educational boundaries are not affected for the 2019-2020 school year.

January 1, 2019, the City of Edmonton annexed land from Leduc County and the City of Beaumont, which includes several households with students currently attending schools in Black Gold Regional Division No. 18. Those students will continue to be eligible to attend their designated BGRD school this September and transportation will be provided according to normal BGRD procedures.

Below is an illustration of the changes.

As instructed by the Minister of Education, BGRD officials are in conversation with Alberta Education and school officials from Edmonton to align educational boundaries to the new municipal boundaries for September 2020.

BGRD will continue to communicate associated boundary developments to its families. In the meantime, any questions can be directed to Danelle Boivin, Communications Coordinator at danelle.boivin@blackgold.ca.
