As a public school division, we are powered by exceptional people who contribute to the success of our vision, mission, and core values. They bring meaning and purpose to our work, which is to serve the best interests of our students.

Each year, the Black Gold School Division proudly presents the Superintendent’s Service Award of Excellence to an individual or group that demonstrates outstanding spirit and excellence and inspires others to perform their best in the Division.

Staff are nominated by their peers and colleagues, and the Superintendent of Schools presents the award to the recipient – in distinguished recognition of their many contributions – at the Division-wide Staff Welcome Back event in September.

“I am very pleased to highlight this year’s nominees for the service award,” said Superintendent of Schools Bill Romanchuk. “I want to thank our all staff and teachers, both at the Division Office and out in the schools, for frankly going above and beyond to ensure the safety and success of our students over the past two years. The public health crisis made our work oftentimes challenging and stressful, but please know that I am enormously encouraged by your professionalism and resiliency.”
